Google Reader iPhone interface

Read on Lifehacker that Google have released a new iPhone interface for Google Reader.

I have managed to get this 'new' interface working on my Sony Ericsson P1i using the Opera Mini beta browser available here. So, much like the Facebook app, it looks like it will work fine on other phones too.

Links and Tumblr

I have just added some links on the right to my other blogs / photos / twitter etc. One new addition is Tumblr which I found out about after reading this post on Lifehacker.

I am experimenting with it at the moment, take a look if you are interested here.

P1i MacBook Bluetooth Modem

Since I have replaced my Nokia E61 with the SonyEricsson P1i I had to reconfigure my MacBook to use the new phone as a Bluetooth modem.

This was not as difficult as I originally thought. I simply downloaded the SonyEricsson modem scripts from version tracker and copied them to my Macintosh HD > Library > Modem Scripts folder. Once these where in place I changed the Bluetooth network settings (under System Preferences > Network > Bluetooth) to use the newly installed modem scripts (in my case Sony Ericsson GPRS CID 1). I left all the other settings the same as my original Nokia setup.Once these settings had been updated the Mac connected to the P1i and established an internet connection and I was able to get on the web, success!

Google Mail Mobile App for your Domain

At last! I have found the link to the Java App for Google mail for your domain.

The regular Gmail Java app for you mobile phone can be downloaded at http://gmail.com/app. While this is great for all of those with a regular Gmail account, what about those of us with a Google Apps for your Domain account? Well, this can be downloaded here: http://m.google.com/a. It is called 'Mail by Google' and has a blue envelope icon rather than the standard red icon for regular Gmail accounts.

I had been using this for ages on my Nokia E61 but since getting my new P1i I have been searching for the download link, odd that they don't publicise it more.

Twitter Extras

Tweetcloud another web service based on twitter which can reveal far to much about you.

Another twitter 'add-on' I have seen recently, but yet to test out is TwitterLocal.

Update:
Just a couple of others:
Twubble - Searches for your friends friends - to help expand your network.
Twits Like Me - Another one to expand your network, searches for people with similar text in their tweets.

IM App Digsby out of private beta

I have been testing out Digsby and so far have had no problems with it. I like the social network integration alongside the access to all my IM networks. All thats missing is the Mac version.

New favorite application

A few days ago I read about Digsby which is (yet another) multi protocol Instant Messaging client. Since receiving my 'beta' activation code I have been using this with AIM, Yahoo, Gtalk and MSN without issue. It also has a 'plugin' for facebook which worked great. The only missing link I have found so far is the lack of direct twitter integration, this can be overcome with the jabba compatible twitter@twitter.com IM bot, which, for me, works great. All in all this looks like a great application and I am looking forward to the mac version.

I am currently testing out the latest version of Flock which so far seams to integrate several services (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr etc) very well (so far). I also found Pocketflock which gives you all the useful Flock functionality from a portable drive.

Twitter to Facebook

So, I have been looking for a way to do this for ages. Update both Facebook and Twitter with one application or from one place.

I found Moodblast for my Mac but couldn't find an equivalent for my Windows PC. Finally I found twittersync (a facebook app) which updates Facebook from Twitter. As you can update twitter from any number of sources, web interface, mobile phone, IM, etc, this means I only have to update my status in one place (twitter) and it gets automatically copied to the other (Facebook).

Incidentally, I also found twitbin which displays a bar in Firefox through which I can follow my friends tweets or the public feed and update my status.

Update: Using twitterfeed.com you can have your Facebook friends status feed piped into Twitter. So, when using twitterbin or twitterIM, you get your friends Facebook status updates included in your twitter updates.

Update (again): OK, using twitter feed in this context is causing a bit of a problem. It is re posting all my friends status updates as my own. What is happening is the twitter feed is placing my friends status updates on twitter, which is then syncing these back to my facebook status (via twitter sync). Looks like its back to the drawing board!
